Swimming Lessons

Molly completed her first session of swimming lessons. She loved them so much! She really enjoys the water.
The instructors were fun and really great at teaching the kids. Molly passed level 1!

MMMMMMM, Panera!

Our church (http://www.hiawathachurch.com/) has free Panera bread (day-old leftovers) on Sundays. It is so great! Molly and Alex are big fans of the bread and bagels. Molly grabbed half of a baguette for a snack, and of course Alex had to have the other half. They actually ended up eating quite a bit of it. :)

Memorial Day Weekend Part II

We went geocaching with some friends at a park that had a playground and large grassy areas. Here Molly and her good friend Josiah were chasing a butterfly. They were running all over laughing and laughing.
Here they are on the tire swing. :)
Alex loved the playground, especially the roller slide. Here he and his buddy Gideon are going down the roller slide. Alex went down that slide over and over and over and over and over....

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a really fun Memorial Day weekend. We did a lot of fun things with friends. Alex got to go bowling for the first time, and he loved it!
Daddy helped Alex roll the ball. Alex clapped his hands the whole time the ball was rolling toward the pins. He was so excited! It was cute.
Molly loved bowling too!

Fish?

Today we had lamb at lunch.
Molly: What is that?
Emily: It's meat.
M: What kind of meat? Is it fish?
E: No, it's called lamb.
(Cory and I exchanged glances, and we were both really hoping to avoid a whole conversation about how the cute baby lambs she loves at Grandpa's house become meat.)
M: Why is it called lamb?
Cory: Because somebody named it that.
M: I'm going to call it fish.
Cory and Emily: OK :)

18 Months

Here's Alex at lunch today. About half of the time, he eats yogurt perfectly with a spoon. The other half of the time, he chucks the spoon on the floor and finger paints with it. Silly kid.

Alex turned 18 months old on Saturday. We had his well child checkup today. He is still long and thin: 35" tall (98th percentile) and 26 lb 10 oz (60th percentile). He's healthy and doing great! :)

On another note, I had a wood tick stuck in my back this morning. EEEEEEW! I guess chaperoning field trips has its consequences. I just hope I don't find any more. Ick!

Dave and the Giant Pickle?

After lunch on the farm (see below about Molly's field trip), the kids were running around playing. Some of the boys were playing a bit rough, and Molly didn't like it. A bit later, Molly ran past me with a few small rocks in her hand. She looked really happy, and she said, "Mom, we're playing Dave and the Giant Pickle!!! The mean guys are Goliath and I am David!" Then she kept running.

For those of you who aren't VeggieTales fans, Dave and the Giant Pickle is the VeggieTales story of David and Goliath. Now, I certainly HOPE that Molly would never actually throw a rock at another person. However, if she's pretending she's David and the boys who are playing rough are Goliath... well, I didn't want to take any chances. :) I called her over and reminded her that pretending is good but we never throw rocks at people, even if we are playing Dave and the Giant Pickle. She nodded and just kept running around so all was well.

Preschool Field Trip!

Today I went with Molly on her preschool class field trip to a historic farm. Everything there was supposed to show how a farm would have been in 1900. Molly helped pump water into a bucket. The kids learned how people got water before there was plumbing.
Molly got to see some more baby chicks. She loves animals. Obviously this farm was not that historically accurate. Notice the electric heat lamp? :)
Being silly on the bus!

Today's winner.... a bicycle pump!

Alex always seems to enjoy playing more with our things than with his own toys. Today his "toy" of choice: our new bicycle pump. Cory got it yesterday, and Alex found it after his nap today. So far he's been dragging it around the house for about an hour and a half. He wouldn't even put it down to eat a snack. Hopefully he'll give it up before bedtime. :)

Today Molly came running to me saying, "Mommy, come see my bug in the kitchen!" I thought she meant a REAL bug, but instead she wanted to show me the bug she made from play dough. Isn't it the cutest bug in the whole world? I love the little smile she put on it.
